March Artisan of the Month: Laurie Gundersen - Appalachian Piecework

Artist Demonstration
Sunday March 17, 2019, 1-3 pm

There are few artists that can hold their own in more than one medium; Laurie Gundersen is one of them - and a tour de force at that! She is a spinner of wool, a dyer of garments, weaver, basket maker, hooker of rugs... and the list goes on. Laurie creatively utilizes making folk art from scrap, blending contemporary design with traditional techniques.

We are pleased to have Laurie as our March Artisan of the Month.  She will demonstrate her craft on Sunday, March 17, 1-3 pmat the Barn Swallow!

"I think of wood as a textile, a rather hard one that can lend itself to so many aspects of our lives.   From the buildings we live in and the furniture we keep to the vessels and accessories that make our lives aesthetically pleasing and simply easier. My hands want wood..."
- Laurie Gundersen

Artisan of the Month: Emily Ruth Prints

Reception and Artist Demonstration
Saturday January 19, 2019, 1-3 pm

As part of the Barn Swallow's Artist of the Month series, we invite you to join Emily Wool, local printmaker, as she presents her newest works. Emily will be doing a demo of how she creates her totes, tea towels, hot pads, and more.

In discussing her work, Emily says, "I first began to see patterns in nature after an eye-opening trip to the Adirondacks. From there I fell into the rhythm of walking, noticing, sketching, carving, and printing. I have enjoyed the process every day thereafter, reminding me that we all see things from different perspectives.

Join us at the Barn on Saturday January 19 from 1 until 3pm for Emily's demo and to see the newest Emily Ruth Prints!
