Welcome to The Barn Swallow!

Our store and gallery, nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains is located just west of Charlottesville, Virginia, in an 1800’s barn. Two talented potters, Janice Arone and Mary Ann Burk, lovingly restored the Barn several years ago as a venue for displaying their ceramics. But we have grown over the years, and have other objects to offer as well, such as jewelry, glass, textiles and
one-of-a-kind pieces for home and garden—all carefully chosen to fit with the nature of the Barn.

Most of what we carry is locally made.
Mary Ann and Janice are relentless in their search for new artists and craftspeople from Virginia and elsewhere, whose work speaks to them and further inspires their love for the Natural World.
